Course Overview

Note: This is a 5 day course and is expected to be offered both in-person and virtually for the 2026-2027 school year, depending upon enrollment.

This course equips participants with evidence-based strategies to lead data-driven coaching cycles that enhance school-wide literacy instruction. Participants will learn to analyze various forms of literacy data to identify patterns in student learning and collaborate with teachers to develop responsive instructional plans. The course emphasizes methods for identifying problems of practice and facilitating effective coaching conversations, while also providing frameworks to support adult learners within collaborative professional learning communities.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

  • Strategic Coaching Cycles: Design and facilitate responsive coaching cycles that address identified instructional needs and support the implementation of evidence-based practices.

  • Instructional Leadership: Develop practical frameworks for conducting coaching conversations and providing targeted feedback that respects the needs of adult learners.

  • Reflective Practice and Growth: Create tools and systems for capturing teacher progress and monitoring the reach and effectiveness of coaching support.
